Pandora is managed as Pandora A / S and is a jewelry company founded in 1982 by Per Enevoldsen. The jewellery manufacturer and dealer is based in Denmark. The company started out as a family-run jeweller based in Copenhagen. Pandora has achieved worldwide fame with its self-creatable charm bracelets. The company also offers designer rings and necklaces in its outlets. Watches have also been announced for new collections in the future. The company has had its production facilities in Thailand since its beginnings. After a successful key account business was also implemented, Enevoldsen started to hire their own designers in 1989 and set up a production facility in Thailand, which is still based there today. Low production costs and an efficient supply chain enabled Enevoldsen to produce and distribute its own designed and handcrafted jewellery at low prices to the mass market. The product range was extended piece by piece with rings, necklaces and earrings. The bracelets, for which Pandora is known today, were patented by Enevoldsen in 2000. The Danish private equity group Axcel acquired 60 percent of the Enevoldsen family's shares in the company in 2008. The resulting IPO in October 2010 resulted in a sale of shares with a total value of DKK 9.96 billion, or USD 1.84 billion. This was one of the largest IPOs in Europe in 2010 and the company is currently also listed on the NASDAQ OMX Copenhagen Stock Exchange in Denmark. It is also a component of the MX Copenhagen 20 Index. After Cartier and Tiffany & Co., Pandora has become one of the largest jewelry companies in the world. In 2011, more than one piece of Pandora jewellery was sold every second. After a shift in focus towards higher value jewelry designs, the company's shares fell by almost 80 percent in 2011 as a result. As a consequence and reaction to these developments, a return to a more affordable mass market was implemented and performance recovered quickly. In 2014, the Pandora company achieved sales of DKK 11.9 billion and reported a net profit of more than DKK 3 billion.
